WHO WE ARE
WR was conceived after a year-long public consultation with study groups led by many prominent women in 2005.
A study by SCWO found that there was a need for an initiative to reach out to women to inspire and lead them, as well as educate and harness the power and growing influence of women.
Women’s Register was launched by the Minister of State for Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) Mrs Yu-Foo Yee Shoon in 2007 with these objectives in mind.
This initiative has gone through a few phases since its inception and has evolved to become a platform for networking, education, mentorship and inspiration.
WR’s approach is to target younger women aged 18 years and above, and to provide them with mentorship and internship opportunities, and to get them involved in the community.
It is our vision that these young ladies are connected and supported by fellow women in the community, given inspiration and empowerment to take charge of their lives and lead them with positivity, compassion, courage and determination.
Our role is to create these opportunities, making them accessible through online media, social networking, dialogue sessions and volunteer events.
